DJ MAG changes to Top 99 DJs after Tiesto buys #1 spot
Earlier today, DJ Magazine, also known as DJ Mag, announced that starting in 2015 their famous Top 100 DJ chart will be changed to the Top 99 DJ Chart after a deal was struck with world renowned DJ & producer, Tiesto, in which he permanently purchased the #1 spot. The purchase amount has not been disclosed at this time but representatives from Tiesto’s management says that they are happy with the outcome and feel that this move is a great thing for the artist.
“There is no bigger act in the world than Tiesto. DJ Mag contacted us after they had offers from other people such as Hardwell & Armin van Buuren, and we hear even Kanye West tried to make a move to purchase the top slot for himself. We knew that if we didn’t act fast then the world might not know that there is no one better than Tiesto when it comes to electronic dance music.” – Samantha Isidora
When asked what he will do next year, Netherland House DJ Hardwell says, “I am very proud of the accomplishments that Tiesto has made. Some day I hope that DJ Mag will allow me to buy the next #1 spot on the Top 99 charts. Until then I will just have to save my pennies.”
